Was born in Gawler, and raised on a small farm between Williamstown and Lyndoch, South Australia.
Trained at The South Australian School of Art, North Adelaide 1964-1969
Post-graduate work selected for the 1969 Student Exhibition that toured Australia.
Art Teacher training at The Western Teacher’s College, Adelaide.
Travelled to Scotland in 1972-3, settling in Edinburgh.
Taught drawing, ceramics and painting in The Art School of The Edinburgh Academy.
Frequent painting and study trips throughout Europe as well as Iceland and the USA. Several return journeys to Australia via The Middle East, Asia and South East Asia, for sabbaticals and teaching:

Yallambee Brilla Brilla Community School, Mt Isa, Queensland in 1999,
assisting in the writing and creation of the illustrations for the publication of “The Black Cockatoo Dreaming”
Lived in Australia from October 2002 to August 2005.
Returned to the United Kingdom in August 2005.
Worked at the W.A.S.P.S. Albion Road Studios, Edinburgh, from October 2005 until June 2006.
Moved to Angus in August 2006 and currently works from a studio at home.
Has worked on several collaborations with his friend, the poet, Henry Marsh.
